"Fiery Objects"
My short "Fiery Objects" is up on The Dirty Napkin, Volume 2.2. An audio recording of my reading the piece is also available to subscribers. Congratulations to The Dirty Napkin's Managing Director and Co-Creator, Jeremy C. Ellis, and all his team for their tireless work. I'm honored to be included in this excellent issue along with so many talented fellow writers and poets, in particular the wonderful Terri Brown-Davidson.

WOW. Ethel, that story -- how do you do that, with such short ones!? I'm too wordy and not concise enough to write short prose. This was elegant, unusual and the ending was unexpected -- but tied right back to the title and the beginning. I really like it.
ReplyDeleteBless you, Tanita. I truly appreciate your kind words and continued reading. I worry about EVERY one I write, so thank you. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteRohan--that's the kind of list we all should make (Fiery Objects)...thank you for the inspiration. I'm not sure if it is the dreaded 40s or the birth and responsibility of children that have brought on just that line of thinking (in my own heart)...
ReplyDeleteon another note, your site is lovely and you inspired me to finally choose a decent template instead of the defualt (still a tech dimwit and on modem in the redwoods or else I would have written sooner). To writing...
Tania, great to hear from you. Thanks for the kind words. Yes, indeed, to writing ...
ReplyDeleteI loved that story, Ethel! And kudos to you for getting your work out there--congrats and happiness. You've actually really inspired me to start writing short-shorts of my own--something I've never done before.
ReplyDeletea.fortis, thank you so much. And good for you, do start writing flash. I love it. My own attempts at it came about thanks to the adage "write what you love to read." I realized how much I love flash stories and just like you I decided to try my hand, and well now I can't stop.
ReplyDeleteVery well written Ethel - loved this one!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cat!
